Reminder of next Hotchpotch meeting: Wed 11 Sep at Blend on Dock Street, 6:00pm for 6:30pm

Hello hello,

Thank you so much to everybody who supported us last week, and for being so patient while I (Eilidh) learned the ropes of being on stage.

Our next event is on Wednesday 9 October at Blend on Dock Street. Doors open at 6:00pm, and readings begin at 6:30pm.

This is an open-mic where each reader is given a five-minute slot on a first-come basis to read poems and/or stories. There is no pressure to read; many people come along to be part of the audience. Hotchpotch has a no heckling and interruptions policy while readers are on stage. Anyone being disruptive may be asked to leave.

Due to the number of people going over the time last month, we would like to remind readers to stick to five-minutes or under as we have a long list to go through each month.

For those who haven’t yet heard, we’d like to announce that Gavin is stepping down from host to be replaced by Eilidh. The format of the event will remain the same, and Gavin will be helping out for October while we complete the transition. We are grateful to everybody for the continued support,

We collect donations on the night to allow us to hire the venue. General admission is £2, or free of charge if you’re unwaged. Remember that buying cakes and coffee from Blend helps us with the hire charge. Take a look at our donations page for more information.

One minor change is that we will only be accepting submissions only via email rather than social media, and only from people who attended the previous event.

We apologise for the lateness of the bulletin as we transition. Due to this, we do not have any bulletin events coming up.

Eilidh
